Pakuranga woman shot at 'close-range with shotgun'

Police are on the hunt for Turiarangi Tai in connection to the death of 22-year-old Pakuranga woman Chozyn Koroheke.

She was found dead at her home in Pakuranga Heights on Tuesday evening, after what police believe was a domestic incident.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin Tiernan says Ms Koroheke's death was violent.

"She was shot dead at her home, at close-range with a shotgun," he said on Thursday.

A firearm was recovered at the home but police warn Tai could still be armed.

Twenty-two-year-old Tai has nine warrants for his arrest that are not related to the homicide investigation and he has links across Auckland, Waikato and the Bay of Plenty.

"Turiarangi now needs to do the right thing and hand himself into police," Snr Sgt Tiernan said.

"Anyone who may be assisting him to evade arrest can also face prosecution and we will be taking this type of behaviour very seriously."
