Trio in synthetic cannabis stupor filmed in Auckland playground

A video of three young men sitting in an Auckland park in a stupor while reportedly high on synthetic cannabis is going viral online.

The video, posted by Facebook user Patea Jandallz, has been viewed more than 140,000 times since it was posted on Tuesday.

"School holidays and of all places the play ground where the surrounding kids and my own choose to play... synthetics smoking at its dumbest [sic]," he wrote.

Two of the group are sitting on a park bench directly opposite a playground in broad daylight in Rata Village in the west Auckland suburb of New Lynn while a third man lies on the ground nearby, foaming at the mouth.

The pair filming the video check on the prone man, telling him to get up and that "you're frothing, bro".

They then turn him over onto his side where he continues to lie in the long grass.

"Seeing first hand how quick this drug kicks in is an eye opener [sic]," the post says.

The post then takes aim at the Government for legalising synthetic cannabis.

"This is what the government started of as the legal drug of NZ now look at what you guys have started [sic]."

Robert Kawiti often visits his partner who lives in the housing complex and says the men don't live in the area.

He claims to have moved the men on from the area after coming across them.

"We've got children here, we've got kids here, we've got tamariki running around - it's no good for them, for the whanau," he told Newshub.

Police say they've confirmed where the video was shot, but because they can't identify anyone in the video they can't check on their welfare.

"We will be conducting patrols of the area today and making enquiries to establish the identity of the people seen in the video, to check on their health.

"Until such time as we have spoken to the people in the video, we are not able to say what substances they may have taken," Waitakere Police Senior Sergeant Richard Thompson told Newshub.

Newshub has contacted the person who posted the video for comment.

It is the latest video to be posted to social media of the zombie-like effects of synthetic cannabis.

Last month, a video of 22-year-old Ngateu Grover went viral after her younger brother Tuakeu Grover shared it with the world.

She told Three's The Hui she was shocked when she saw herself in that state.
