Campervan blown off road

A campervan has been blown off the road on Wednesday morning as high winds move up the country.

Emergency services responded to a crash on State Highway 6 near Tekapo after the campervan was thought to have been caught out by the gusts, forcing it tumbling off the road.

No one was injured in the crash and no other vehicles were involved but police say it could be some time before the campervan can be towed out due to the on-going high winds.

MetService have severe wind warnings in place as a norwest wind is expected to bring winds of more than 130km/h to inland areas of Canterbury and the high country before moving up the country.
