Invercargill cop accused of killing wife enters no plea

A policeman who allegedly shot his wife dead has appeared in the Invercargill High Court on Thursday morning where he entered no plea.

Ben McLean is facing charges of murder and attempted murder following the Anzac Day shooting.

He appeared via video link from a Christchurch prison and sat with his hands clasped during the appearance.

The 47-year-old's accused of killing his wife, Verity McLean, before turning the gun on the man she was with, Garry Duggan.

Ben McLean has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at a case review hearing on July 18 where pleas must be entered.
