Police in Otago have issued a warrant for the arrest of man who has a history of assaulting police and escaping custody.
Tony Ashley Gorrie, 47, failed to appear in the Napier District Court and police want to speak to him in relation to a number of matters.
They say he is known to stay at backpacker hostels and motels but his current whereabouts is unknown.
Police say Gorrie is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
