Police have identified a tattooed woman found dead in west Auckland on Thursday.
The body was found in Ranui just after 4:30am, on the corner of Luanda Drive and Swanson Road.
Police initially struggled to identify her and released a photo of her leg tattoo, "as a very last option", in the hope somebody would come forward.
The distinctive tattoo features red roses intertwined with leaves, and appears to cover most of the woman's left calf.
Efforts to locate and notify her immediate family are now underway.
Her death is not suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner.
