Man sets dog on Greymouth bar manager, patrons

A man in Greymouth has been charged with serious assault after he set his dog onto a bar manager after he was kicked out.

The 25-year-old was in unnamed bar on Friday night with his dog when the manager asked him to take his animal outside.

The man then allegedly assaulted the manager and set his dog on to him where it bit his head, face and arm.

Police say when the public tried to step in, the man also set the dog on them too.

Police were quick to arrest the man. He appeared in the Greymouth District Court on Saturday where he was charged with several counts of serious assault.

The bar manager was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries while the man has been remanded in custody until his next appearance.
