Police are appealing for sightings of two people at a Northland orchard after an allegedly deliberate poisoning led to 30,000 trays of kiwifruit being dumped.
Northland police say some time in March or April the Kerikeri orchard was the target of what they believe was poisoning with an insecticide spray.
"As a result of this, approximately 30,000 trays of Kiwi Gold kiwifruit had to be dumped from two orchard sites," police said.
"This is a significant loss incurred by this company."
They are urging anyone who may have information to come forward, and say they've already received some useful tips.
"Police are particularly interested in the reported sighting of two individuals dressed in white coloured overalls with backpack spray units seen in the area, along with a dark coloured motor vehicle at the time of the suspected poisoning."
