Man charged with murder after Invercargill stadium assault

A man has been charged with murder after a 19-year-old died in Invercargill on Thursday morning.

Police say the teen died after being assaulted at Stadium Southland at around 11pm on Wednesday night.

The man, 20, appeared in the Invercargill District Court on Thursday morning. He's been remanded in custody and granted name suppression.

A forensics team is also investigating a residential address.

Police say they're speaking with a number of other people in relation to the incident.
