From the furry to the feathered, to everything in between, the world's best wildlife photos have been showcased in a new exhibition at Auckland Museum.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year display, which opened on Friday, shows 100 of the best wildlife photos taken all across the world.
It was developed and produced by the Natural History Museum in London and now has been brought down-under.
Auckland Museum director Dr David Gaimster called it a "privilege" to bring the display to Aucklanders, free of charge.
"Auckland Museum is a dynamic space and we strive to create an ever-changing programme of special exhibitions and events for the people of this city," he said.
The 100 award-winning photos are whittled down from around 50,000 entries from 96 countries.
Jan English, the Natural History Museum's head of touring exhibitions, said the display celebrates the best nature photographer and is enjoyed by millions every year.
"These images tell thought-provoking stories about our planet that prompt us all to think differently about the natural world and the future we want to create," she said.
The display is on at Auckland Museum until Sunday 3 December at the Special Exhibitions Hall, free with museum entry.
