Dunedin's water contamination problem has been resolved.

The news comes after the city's network accidentally released untreated water, and an emergency boil notice was put in place.

For days, residents were urged to run all taps for 10 to 15 minutes before consumption.

The notice has now been lifted, but those who can't yet flush their taps have been cautioned to keep boiling water when necessary.

A $100,000 fund has been set up to help those affected by the contamination scare.
