Ten high school students from Karamu High School have been injured after their school minivan collided with another vehicle in Hawke's Bay.

The crash happened shortly before 9am on Monday at the Waitangi Bridge in Clive.

A police spokesperson says the students have injuries ranging from moderate to serious.

"There were 10 students and a staff member on their way to a regional chess tournament in Napier," says principal Michael Leitch.

"They were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure and have all now been discharged."
