Three teens have been charged with firearms offences after a pet goat was shot and an outhouse shot up at a remote hut near Tuatapere in Southland.

On June 17, police received reports of men in a ute shooting a goat in the Rowallan area and had also fired shots near another hut.

On Tuesday, police executed search warrants at three addresses in Riverton and located firearms.

Three 17-year-olds were arrested in relation to the shooting incidents and will appear in Invercargill District Court next week, police say.
