Aucklanders were treated to a remarkable display of lightning and thunder on Sunday night as a massive storm passed over the city.
There were more than 100 lightning strikes within an hour from 6pm on Sunday night - one of which was caught hitting the city's iconic Sky Tower.
In spectacular footage, New Zealand's tallest building can be seen lighting up as its aerial is struck by a large fork of lightning.
And there could yet be more impressive storms to come for the rest of the country on Monday, according to weather forecasts.
Metservice is warning that the Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Taranaki, Westland and Hawke's Bay all have a chance of a thunderstorm as the morning progresses.
