Jacinda Ardern fights back tears after grandma's funeral

Labour leader Jacinda Ardern fought back tears as she opened up about the passing of her late grandmother.

She passed away on Tuesday morning, and the funeral was held in Te Aroha on Friday.

Ms Ardern and partner Clarke Gayford sat down with Newshub's Ryan Bridge for a personal interview in Auckland this afternoon.

Ms Ardern held back tears as she spoke, saying that she hasn't had a chance to process her emotions yet.

They also spoke candidly about their relationship, their private life and what Mr Gayford thinks of Ms Ardern's trolls.

The full interview airs on Three's The Project tonight at 7pm.
