As the backlash over the 'Shit Towns of New Zealand' Facebook page escalates, Newshub decided to put a similar question to Auckland city residents: What is the worst place you've visited in New Zealand?
And the result? Almost half of the people we asked say Auckland takes the cake.
Amongst the reasons given for the damnation: The traffic, the people, the weather and the public urination.
"I've gotten used to seeing men urinate on Vulcan Lane at 10:15am," one person said.
"Last night to top it all off, a woman at 5:15 urinated just in the street just down there."
Also in the firing line were Hamilton, Huntly, Christchurch and Rotorua, dismissed as "boring", "not much to offer", "dull" and "trashy".
'Shit Towns of New Zealand' now has more than 29,000 likes and even has politicians coming in to bat for their district.
South Waikato Mayor Jenny Shattock told NZME the page's creator "should be shot" after Putaruru, a town in her district, was named one of the shittiest towns in New Zealand.
Meanwhile death threats have been directed towards the page's anonymous creator after they called Cromwell in the South Island the "mistake by the lake".
