An elderly man has been hospitalised in a serious condition after a truck crashed into his mobility scooter in Matamata.
Police are at the scene after the smash on Firth St, between Farms Rd and Colleges St, at around 3pm on Tuesday.
Police said the truck collided with the scooter and the scooter's rider has been seriously injured.
Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area, with delays expected.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
