Stolen Bay of Plenty police car found

Police have found one of their patrol cars after it was stolen in the Bay of Plenty town of Murupara.

The car was taken from Oregon Drive early on Tuesday evening, sparking an air and ground search that included the police Eagle helicopter.

The car was found abandoned on Gibbs Rd a short time later.

Police are making inquiries to catch the person who stole the car.
