A charity has released an emotional video of calves being taken away from their mother.
SAFE posted the video to its Facebook page with the caption: "There are millions of reasons to be dairy-free. Here is one of them."
The animal charity said the video was sent in by a concerned member of the public.
"In the dairy industry, cows are impregnated every year, with calves taken from their mothers, so humans can have their milk," the charity said on Facebook.
"In NZ, up to two million are sent to slaughter at four days old, as 'wastage'."
