Auckland's Victoria Park tunnel was temporarily closed after a car in it burst into flames.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in the car's engine.
The sole occupant escaped uninjured, taking refuge in one of the tunnel's safe zones.
The tunnel has been reopened, but the left lane heading north is blocked. NZTA says commuters should consider using alternate routes, or expect long delays.
