Man killed in glider crash near Lake Hawea

A man has been killed in a glider crash near Lake Hawea in Otago. 

Police say they received reports of the crash in the Hunter Range around 5.30pm today.

A helicopter carrying police and a paramedic was sent from Queenstown to fnd the crash.

When emergency services arrived they found the man dead. 

Police do not yet know the identity of the man but say they will notify the family as soon as he is identified. 

The Civil Aviation Authority has been notified and the death will be referred to the coroner.
