Robbery at Maxwell Road dairy in Blenheim

A thief has stolen a cash register in an early-morning robbery at a dairy in Blenheim on Friday.

Police were called to Hospital Store, on Maxwell Road, just after 7am and a dog handler was dispatched to track the suspect.

The man threatened a staff member, before picking up the entire cash register and fleeing the store on foot.

The shopkeeper was not physically injured in the robbery, but was shaken by the incident.

The suspect was wearing grey sweat shirt, with a dark-coloured hood covering his face and adidas trackpants.

They were unable to confirm if he was armed.
