A person has been treated for smoke inhalation after a fire on a hotel balcony in Queenstown.

A fire communications spokesman says they were called to put it out around 2:30am on Sunday morning.

He says it was only a small balcony fire at the Ridge Resort, near Queenstown Airport.

The person was treated by ambulance for minor injuries, but wasn't taken to hospital.
