A burst sewage pipe in Milford, Auckland is leaving waste running through residents' properties.
A fire service spokeswoman said they were called to the scene on Shakespeare Road at 2:40am on Sunday morning after receiving reports of a water leak.
However, it was discovered upon arrival that the water leak was in fact a burst sewage pipe.
The firefighters in attendance notified the council and left the scene.
The water is cascading through a number of properties and gardens.
"Wastewater overflow detected on network, swimming not advised," reads Auckland Council's SafeSwim website.
