One person is dead following a crash in Masterton on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene on McKinstry Ave and Masterton Castlepoint Rd shortly after 5pm, to find a motorbike and a ute had collided.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

The vehicles were towed from the scene three hours later, after a scene examination.

It brings the official holiday road toll, which began at 4pm on December 23, to 12.
