Three homes in Palmerston North have been evacuated as a precaution, after a suspected grenade was discovered.
Police were called to Esk Street just before 6pm, after furniture movers made the discovery.
A police spokesperson says the house, along with those on either side, have been evacuated and the street cordoned off.
The bomb squad, or Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team (EOD), is en route to remove the suspected grenade.
