Person hospitalised by Rhythm and Vines virus to be discharged

The last person who came down severe sickness from Rhythm and Vines is likely to be discharged on Tuesday morning.

Fifteen people were hospitalised in Gisborne with extreme vomiting and diarrhoea, a suspected case of norovirus.

Most were discharged on Monday, with only one person admitted overnight.

Festival organisers say they encourage anyone feeling unwell to follow advice dished out by Gisborne Hospital.

Tairāwhiti District Health’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr Bruce Duncan says a "mass outbreak" appears to have been successfully prevented.

"With thousands of people in close proximity, it was a priority."

The festival wrapped up on Monday.
