The sky has finally returned to blue, following days of rain over parts of the country.
MetService is reporting the worst of the wet weather is over, after Thursday's heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Heading into the weekend, most of New Zealand can expect a return to the hot and sticky weather from earlier in January.
Cricketers in Wellington will be appreciating the break. After cloud cover this morning, the skies have cleared for the Blackcaps vs Pakistan at the Basin Reserve.
Across the country, temperatures are expected to hit the high 20s over the weekend, with some areas expecting in excess of 30degC.
But rain is expected to return on Monday.
