Stolen car spiked on southern motorway

A stolen vehicle has had to be spiked to be stopped - forcing the near closure of part of SH1 in Auckland.

The vehicle fled from police around 8.20pm and was finally brought to a halt on the southern motorway near Ellerslie.

Police say no one was injured and they are now talking to the three occupants of the stolen car.

The motorway is down to one lane, but traffic is expected to ease soon.
