Two people are dead after a serious crash on SH16 in Waimauku.
The three-car collision occurred just before 5pm on Thursday, between Restall Road and Kiwitahi Road.
Police say the two people died after becoming trapped in a vehicle which then caught on fire.
Three other people have been seriously injured in the incident.
The road will be closed for some time and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
