A 50-year-old Hamilton woman is injured after jumping off the footbridge in Raglan.

Emergency were called to the scene shortly after 4pm on Sunday.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter took the woman to Middlemore Hospital for treatment to suspected spinal injuries to her neck.

The bridge, which crosses an inlet off the Raglan Harbour, is a popular recreational spot but the tide was quite low at the time.

A 16-year-old boy died after jumping off the same bridge in 2016, when struck in the head by a fellow jumper, the Waikato Times reports.
