A 16-year-old has been charged with burglary following the ram raid of a clothing store in Raglan.

Three people were involved in the raid, taking off with up to $5000 worth of clothing from a streetwear store on Waitangi Day.

CCTV footage showed the thieves reversing into the storefront of Fallenfront on Bow St, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. The culprits stole between $3000 and $5000 worth of clothing from brands such as Adidas and Champion.

Store owner Steve Crowhurst told Newshub he was "disappointed" by the theft, especially that it happened on a national day of celebration and remembrance.

A police spokesperson says the teen appeared in the Hamilton Youth Court today and the investigation is ongoing.
