A tiny kitten has a new home after being adopted by the construction worker who found him hiding at a City Rail Link construction site.

The black kitten was found on Valentine's Day inside the former central post office site and quickly bonded with the worker that discovered him.

The bond between the welder, Ibrahim, and the cat was so strong that once it was clear nobody was coming forward for the cat, he went to live with Ibrahim's family.

According to City Rail Link, the kitten was originally named Voodoo Valentine, but now goes by Shadow.

After being taken to the vet, it was discovered he was eight weeks old, although he was so underweight he appeared the size of a kitten half his age.

Aside from malnourishment, he was fine, and is expected to grow healthily with his new family.
