Auckland residents have been faced with a horror commute home as four separate incidents impact busy sections of road.

A crash near Warkworth was the first incident, blocking lanes near the intersection of SH1 and Cowan Bay Rd.

Stop/Go signage was in place from around 1pm, but the road was fully reopened with significant congestion at 3pm.

A second crash then blocked the SH1 right lane southbound headed to East Tamaki but was cleared shortly afterward.

The Hibiscus Coast Highway was impacted by a diesel spill near the Wainui Rd intersection, forcing delays back to the Silverdale motorway interchange.

A lane was blocked in Takapuna at the intersection between Esmonde Rd and Lake Rd due to a breakdown, but was cleared around 5pm.

Auckland Transport is warning motorists to expect delays in the area as congestion eases.

In the city centre, a breakdown caused congestion headed southbound through Spaghetti Junction and has since been cleared.
