Fire fighters are battling a large blaze at a scrap yard in Palmerston North.
Seven crews are at scene on Kelvin Grove Rd, near the city's airport.
Fire and Emergency says it is well involved and a lot of smoke is barrelling from the site.
Police have asked the public to stay away from the area. Cordons are in place and traffic is being diverted.
