One person died at the scene of a fatal crash on State Highway Two at Waikino on Friday night, while another was flown to Waikato Hospital with critical injuries.
Emergency services were called to the two-car collision at about 9pm.
A third person was seriously injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.
The road was completely closed, and Police put diversions in place at Waitawheta Rd and nearby Waihi.
The Serious Crash Unit was also at the scene.
