Police have confirmed that the body found at Sumner Beach in Christchurch is that of missing teenager Jack Sutton.
The 14-year-old disappeared while he was swimming off Scarborough Beach on February 5. He and a friend got into trouble in a rip and Jack failed to return to shore.
Search efforts have continued for the last week as boats, jet skis and helicopters combed the shoreline looking for the teenager.
Police have offered their sympathies to Jack's friends and family, and say they want to thank all who helped with the search.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
