A man has captured extraordinary video footage of a dolphin pod swimming through the waters off the Coromandel Peninsula.
On Sunday morning, Shayne Johnson took his jet ski out from the Tairua coast in an effort to recover from a hangover.
But it wasn't long before a pod of dolphins was swimming alongside him.
"I've seen plenty of dolphins before when I'm out fishing, but these ones were big - some of them were bigger than the ski!" he said.
"It was an amazing experience. I was putting my feet on some of their backs as they rubbed up alongside the ski and they didn't even seem fazed."
