Christchurch motorists be warned you may find yourself in fishy situation if travelling on a particular stretch of road.

A load of fish fell out of a truck at the intersection of Curletts Rd and Blenheim Rd on Tuesday, creating a slippery situation.

Canterbury Transport Operations Centre (CTOC) travel information advisor Janine Porter says combined with the rain that already makes roads slippery - the oil from the fish could make it "quite slippery".

The road was not closed but motorists are advised to take extra care driving through the debris, she says.

There had been no reports of motorists slipping on the fishy contents and contractors had been advised of the spillage.
