One of three thieves who allegedly entered a Waikato dairy and made off with pies and cigarettes has been arrested.

The aggravated robbery took place just after 8am on Sunday, at Bridge Street Dairy in Huntly.

The trio entered the store and took the baked goods and cigarettes before fleeing from the scene in a stolen car with an associate of theirs.

They then drove 1km to the shores of Lake Puketirini, before ditching the vehicle and making off on foot.

One of the four men has since been taken into custody, and been charged with aggravated robbery.

The stolen pies and tobacco products have since been recovered, police say.

Anyone with any knowledge of the incident is urged to call Huntly police on (07) 214 5169, or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
