A man is in a serious condition after a paragliding accident in Picton.
Emergency services were called to the scene between Leicester St and Tui Dr just after midday on Friday.
A helicopter has arrived at the accident site.
A Waikawa resident said the big hill opposite the park is where paragliders usually take off.
"The police car ripped down Waikawa road just as we left town.
"When we passed the park there was a bunch of people huddled around over by the pavillion. Ambulance and police are on the field beside them."
The Civil Aviation Authority has been advised of the accident.
