A pedestrian has received minor injuries after being hit by a bus due to a police chase in Auckland central.

The chase began at 11am on Thursday when the driver failed to stop on Queen St after being recognised as wanted by police.

A chase began but was abandoned after about one minute due to safety concerns.

The driver was later seen in another part of Auckland CBD and police tried to give chase again before the driver collided with the rear end of a bus.

The bus was then pushed forward and hit a nearby pedestrian crossing the road at the intersection of Anzac Ave and Waterloo quadrant.

The driver tried to flee the scene on foot but was caught by police after a short chase.

The pedestrian required treatment for minor injuries at the scene but did not need to go to hospital.
