Auckland's public have been asked to help police find the perpetrator of a sexually motivated attack in Mt Albert on Sunday February 25.

A woman was locking her car on Springleigh Ave around 8pm when a man allegedly grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

He then ran away headed west on Springleigh Ave.

Police have little by way of a description. He is believed to be adult, around 172 centimetres in height and with short hair.

The man was wearing glasses and possibly a light coloured t-shirt and dark beach shorts.

He smelled strongly of alcohol.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or has any information is asked to call Detective Constable Kim on 021 191 2657 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
