Police have released footage of a brazen liquor store ram raid in Dunedin.

The video shows a car repeatedly ramming into the front door until it is broken at a Super Liquor store on Cumberland St on Wednesday, March 21.

Police say the offender or offenders were driving a stolen vehicle and caused around $15,000 in damages.

Once inside, the footage shows the offender stealing a number of packets of cigarettes - but he left the till and liquor untouched, before fleeing in the vehicle he used to ram the store.

It is believed the car had been taken from outside a nearby student flat, and it was later found burned out at a quarry above Port Chalmers.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has information which could help identify the offenders.

Members of the public can contact the Dunedin Police Station on (03) 471 4800, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
