Rafting guide dead after incident near Queenstown

A guide has died after a commercial rafting incident near Queenstown. 

The man died after a raft overturned on the Shotover River near Toilets Rapids on Friday morning.

Police were called to the scene around 11.24am.

Five other people were in the raft at the time but were uninjured, police say.

Police are working with Maritime New Zealand and the rafting company to determine how the incident happened. 

Police say their thoughts were with the man's family at this time.
