The search for a man missing after his car was found in a Coromandel river will resume on Monday morning.
The empty vehicle was found in the Tairua River, submerged off Hikuai School Rd, at 6pm on Sunday
The person who the car is registered to was reported missing at 5:30pm after they left a friend's house.
A police search of the riverbank on Sunday night failed to find the missing man.
Heavy rain has hit the region in the past 24 hours.
