Firefighters battle 20ha blaze in north Canterbury

Firefighters are currently battling an out of control blaze in Motunau, north Canterbury.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand southern shift manager Tim Reynolds says three helicopters and 10 ground crews are battling the 20 hectare vegetation fire on Motunau Beach Rd. 

There are currently no evacuations or injuries, he says. 

The fire is yet to be controlled.
