The Lyttelton Port dispute is over - with a settlement being drawn up ending weeks of on and off again strike action by union workers.
All strike and lockout notices are being withdrawn.
Two more rounds of action were planned to being on Friday which could have closed the port for up to 10 days.
Rail and Maritime Transport Union organiser John Kerr expects the rest to be formalities after works and the port have come to a pay agreement.
Lyttelton Port Company chief executive Peter Davie said: "The lifting of the strike notices is an extremely positive step as we move closer to achieving settlement.
"LPC wants to acknowledge customers' ongoing support and thank them for their patience during the industrial action. It is encouraging that we can again give importers, exporters and our region certainty of uninterrupted service at Lyttelton Port."
Strike action for over 200 workers at the Lyttelton Port began in March after mediation talks to reach pay settlements failed.
