Attempts to contact the next-of-kin of the tourist who was allegedly murdered in Nelson have been unsuccessful, police have confirmed to Newshub.
The woman, 62, was found dead at the Rutherford Hotel on Nile St West shortly before 9am on Friday.
A 62-year-old man has been charged with her murder and is due to appear in the Nelson District Court on Monday.
Both of them were visiting New Zealand from overseas, police said.
The name and nationality of the woman won't be released until next-of-kin have been contacted, which was unlikely to be over the weekend, a police media spokesperson told Newshub.
