Two critically injured in separate crashes in Auckland and Manawatu

Two people have been critically injured in separate crashes in Auckland and Manawatu on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to a single-car crash on Auckland's Southern Motorway between East Tamaki Rd and Te Irirangi Dr. One person was critically injured.

All southbound lanes have been completely blocked and detours are in place.

Only 10 minutes earlier, at 11:20am, another person was critically injured their car crashed with a bus near on State Highway 1 near Manukau, in the Manawatu region.

The person has been helicoptered to Wellington Hospital.

Nobody on the bus is believed to have been injured.

Earlier this morning one person died after their car crashed into a wall in Matamata, east of Hamilton, bringing this year's official road toll to 126.
